Summary of The Alliance Plan
Responsible development is our guiding principle and we believe any plan that gives benefits to the developer should also give benefits to the citizens. We all want to see the South Shore Hospital eliminated but we will not support huge developer giveaways or violations of our land development regulations that increase traffic, congestion and flooding. Our plan provides a balanced approach that allows the developer controlled height increases in exchange for a package of benefits for the community.
We will allow a height increase on the 500 block from 75 feet to 280 feet, enabling the developer to build a slender condo tower of about 6,000 sq feet per floor, on a small footprint that is in keeping with the surrounding buildings. In exchange, the developer will deed 3 1/2 acres of his property to the City as a much needed public park on West Ave and tear down the South Shore Hospital.
